It was back to work for most everyone in the United States, and the stars of tennis were no exception as they graced the grounds of the USTA National Tennis Center. The youngsters took to the outer courts to wind their way down to the weekend finals. The pros took to the show courts, the men completing the fourth round and the women starting to whittle down from eight to four.

You had to look really hard for an upset today at Flushing Meadows, a large reason why the U.S. Open took a backseat in the American news cycle to the start of the 2010 college football season today. So I broke down both sides of the singles draws when the 32 seeds were revealed. There weren’t too many surprises, the U.S. Open a tournament that deigns to seed mostly by the current ATP rankings.
