It was a day when the brackets started tumbling at Flushing Meadows. With the men’s and women’s singles tournaments joined by the first set of first-round matches in men’s doubles there were even more opportunities to see seeded players falling. So I broke down both sides of the singles draws when the 32 seeds were revealed. There weren’t too many surprises, the U.S. Open a tournament that deigns to seed mostly by the current ATP rankings. With the USTA releasing the 32 seeds for the men’s draw of the last Grand Slam tournament of the 2010 season, it is time to discuss just who might emerge victorious at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York when the final is played on Sunday 12 September.
